Le Tunnel (Psychorelief III.2)Collaboration with David Renaud & Sébastien Bassin
Guests: Soleil Noir
Video installation in Nuit Blanche 5, Metz
A variation on David Renaud’s 2008 work Psychorelief III, Le Tunnel (Psychorelief III.2) is a collaborative piece made up of a video installation by David Renaud and sound composition by Sébastien Bassin and Benjamin Dufour, with the participation of the group Soleil Noir.
The installation covers almost 300 meters of a tunnel under the Metz train station. It creates a passage in which time and space seem to be subject to distortion and transformation. The hypnotic imagery brings to mind fractal objects which are never fully identifiable: they could be a macroscopic vision of the infinitesimal just as well as an accelerated vision of the expanding universe.
The sound unfolds and expands like a landscape, evoking and intertwining meteorological phenomena, machine noises, animal calls and other super-natural sounds. The soundscape redefines space suggested by the psychoreliefs as something off-screen, displacing the point of view from the tunnel to a distant space.
